What Happens in the Okavango Delta on a Botswana Safari?

Two of our travellers found themselves in a mokoro (canoe) in the Okavango Delta while they were on our Botswana Walking Safari last September, when there was a group of elephants crossing right in front of them! Can you spot the little one in the middle of the group?

Botswana has a legendary reputation as a superb wildlife destination, and the Okavango Delta especially is teeming with wildlife. On our Botswana Walking Safari, you travel on foot and by mokoro to encounter the wildlife without the barriers of vehicles. These elephants crossing the river were the highlight of their trip Jez, who made the video, tells us.

Highlights were many but have to include listening to elephants crossing the delta next to our tents in the middle of the night, wild camping miles from anyone in Savuti, and a leopard in Khwai. But for me personally, elephants crossing the delta in front of our mokoro one day 1 in the Okovango Delta.

Our skilled guides ensure that you can view these majestic animals in a safe way for both the animals and yourselves. Want to find out more? Check out our Botswana Walking Safari where we explore the Okavango Delta in 10 days or view our other Botswana safari trips.
